Cheese Straws
Yield: 90 Straws

1 c all purpose flour, sifted
1 1/2 ts baking powder
1/2 ts salt
2 tb shortening
1/2 c cheddar cheese, grated
1/3 c milk or water
paprika

Sift dry ingredients together. Then cut in the shortening and
cheese, using 2 knives or a pastry blender until like coarse corn
meal. Add milk and mix well. Roll dough to about 1/8" thickness,
sprinkle with paprika, then cut into strips 3" long and 1/4" wide.
If a fluted edge is desired, cut out strips using a pastry crimper.
Bake on a greased or oiled cookie sheets in a hot oven of 425 F,
for 8-10 minutes.

Variation: Substitute 1 cup packaged prepared biscuit mixture for
teh first 4 ingredients.
